Keith Still Over the last 25 years, Keith has consulted on some of the world’s largest, and most challenging crowd safety projects. For over a decade, he was a Special Advisory on Hajj projects (Saudi Arabia). He has consulted on crowd safety for Olympic events, the Royal Wedding (2011), international festivals and mass gatherings and major city-wide events. His opinion is sought by Governments and Police forces from around the world. He develops and teaches crowd safety and crowd risk analysis courses from Level 3 through to Level 7 (MSc). His courses are attended by event organisers, police, first responders, emergency planners, city authorities, building control officers, licensing officers, architects, event managers, security companies, venue operators and consulting engineers. He has trained numerous operational leaders across the public and private sector in crowd science, crowd dynamics and crowd movement to help them safely manage their places of public assembly. Professor Dr. Still has regularly commentated for the media about crowd focused events including the New York Times, Vanity Fair and the Washington Post. As an expert witness, he has worked on cases in the USA, Europe and Australia. “One of the most interesting aspect of my career is working on expert witness cases. Specifically understanding the local guidance, legislation and crowd related issues of different locations around the world. My research focusses on the classification of the underlying causes of crowd related incidents, my background provides valuable advice for litigation. “There is a well know saying that knowledge is useless unless it is passed on, which is why I developed a range of educational courses. “At the start of every course, I always ask the delegates if they have ever had a “Phew, we were lucky that time” moment? Typically, the majority of the delegates admit to that feeling. In fact, the main reason the delegates come to these courses is because they have had a close call with public safety and need to avoid potential future incidents. “Of course, the more people that take the course, the less work I will have as an expert witness.
