Welcome to the 2021 edition of the Lawyer Monthly Expert Witness Awards. Expert witnesses play a key role in the justice system. It is essential that they fulfil their responsibilities to collect, write and – if required – give evidence at hearings in accordance with the prescribed law and practice for witnesses. The variation in the roles performed by expert witnesses is incredible, and it is easy to see why these professionals are instructed as leaders in their respective fields. The COVID-19 pandemic has not diminished the need for expert witnesses; our winners this year have conducted reports and investigations remotely in accordance with lockdown measures, enabling the smooth operation of the Courts even in adverse circumstances.
